Antique Portuguese 19k Gold ‘Order of Christ’ Cross Pendant

This cross is a representation of the ‘Order of Christ’ which was founded in Portugal to protect the crusaders. It is essentially the symbol of the country of Portugal.

This cross is an antique made around 1900, before the monarchy was dissolved in 1910. The gold is solid 19.2k, which is a unique alloy to Portugal and possess a 5% greater gold content than 18k (800/1000).

The red and white was created with a method called Guilloché enamel, and was done by hand. There is some damage to the enamel on one side, but this can be repaired for an extra $50 and will take about 2 weeks. There is a Dutch import hallmark for 18k, but it is not Dutch, it was imported into the Netherlands sometime later.

The dimensions are 4.8cm x 3.3cm. The weight is 11.45 grams.
